light bodies chin de loik nighthawks in between days exòtic/quotidià beauty isn't...

Albert Such

I started using photography as a way of artistic expression in the late 90s. My early work, in B&W, focused on urban landscapes; the series Beauty isn't about being young shows some of this early work.

As my photography interests evolved, I began to do more people and street photography. In particular I got interested in capturing people's reaction to being photographed in the street, looking for that precise moment where the subject realizes that s/he is being photographed, the instant that lays between candid and posed portrait. An example is the series Exòtic/Quotidià, that I did while I was living in India, and that was recently exhibited in the CC Pati Llimona in Barcelona.

In my latest photographs, I am working on joining these two lines, urban landscape and street photography, together with night photography, to capture the soul of the night in the city. In my series Nighthawks, inspired by Edward Hopper's famous painting, I am trying to act as a disengaged sentimental voyeur that looks at life in the city almost slept; while in In Between Days my intent is to capture the last light that remains as night falls. In particular, Nighthawks was exhibited in the 10º Forum Fotografic Can Basté and got an honor mention.
