These are some of the research papers I wrote to get my Master Degree in the Information and Knowledge Society (I know, the title may sound a little pretentious, but it is, basically, a Master Degree on Technology and Society Studies)
- eBooks, a Technology under Construction is an study of the evolution of the eBook technologies, and the relative limited success of eBook products, from an STS perspective.
- The Effect of Digital Communication Technologies on the Print Media Industry: is an analysis of the changes that the print publishing industry is experienced due to the growth of the new information and communication technologies.
- India in the New Economy: using public data about the evolution of the economical indicators of India. I analyze the economical changes since the liberalization of the Indian economy in the early 90s and how they relate to the New Economy model described by Manuel Castells and other authors. (I wrote this one one and a half years before I moved to India to work in activities related to the New Economy; I guess that the selection of the topic was some kind of premonition...)
- Innovation Activities and Local and Global Knowledge Flows. The case of the Biotechnology Sector in the Barcelona Metropolitan Area : this is my final research project for the Master Degree and to get the Advanced Studies degree that enables me to start working on a PhD thesis (If I ever have time to do it...). Beyond the long title there is an study, using mostly qualitative research techniques, on the evolution of the biotechnology sector in the Barcelona area, and the strategies used by the different players have to establish and maintain the knowledge flows with other biotechnology clusters.
